Although Crystel Cranor, RRT, had to drive two hours to her interview at Hillcrest Medical Center, she knew almost immediately this would be her professional home. Crystel wanted to be a respiratory therapist through the personal experience of watching a close childhood friend suffer from cystic fibrosis. She would sit with her friend during many of her hospitalizations and witnessed the care and relief her friend received from the respiratory therapists. Crystel takes this experience with her daily as she walks into patient rooms and sees families appreciative she is there to care for their loved one. “That’s what puts everything into perspective,” Crystel says.
Thank you, Crystel, and our more than 40 respiratory therapists who are helping to change lives at Hillcrest! #RespiratoryCareWeek

Cindy Escobar is a 2nd year respiratory therapy student at TCC, who recently spent a five-week rotation here at Hillcrest Medical Center. As Respiratory Care Week continues, Cindy says she has wanted to pursue a career as a Respiratory Therapist since she was in high school. Suffering from asthma growing up and once hospitalized, Cindy understands how her patients feel and what a difference RT can truly make. We wish Cindy and our area RT students the best in their academic and future professional careers in respiratory therapy!
